dressing well

I always watch shows portraying the 1920's and stuff and everyone dressed so nicely and used clothing to show their worth and such. And I guess I'm just wondering if anyone thinks we still do that? it seems to me more like we dress for comfort and use more than to show off.

Oh for sure. I don't think we do it as obviously as we used to, but I think that maybe there's a subtle expectation to look damn good in certain situations. That said, I agree. We've slid a hell of a lot from the fashionable to the functional (and comfortable). I think that clothes have a sizeable impact, not only because of how they look but because of how they make the wearer feel. I know when I'm lookin fine I'm usually feeling it too.
